More on Sufism, poets, and thieves in the night…Posted in New Age at 4:50 pm by nemo
Two good comments on Rumi, sufism, poets, decoys, and how I outsmarted sufi hyenas.
Westerners often lack any serious information on the issue of sufism, and Idries Shah’s works are perhaps less helpful than they look, or looked in the seventies.
Furthermore, Westerners are beset by strange characters operating on Gurdjieff notions, which compounds the confusion, since that ‘farce’ is a series of apparently deliberate mystifications.
People claming to have some connection here abound, making the whole question almost hopeless.
Finally, there is the figure E.J. Gold, a very shady character who spreads the claim that he is Gurdjieff’s successor (a baseless claim, so baseless as to be labeled an unsoliticed take-over attempt), who is not above using ’shadowy retaliations’ on those who won’t acknowledge his presumptions.Thank you for the data here. You are quite right, many sources right out in the open can help here. As to the Western deviations of sufism/Gurdjieffianity, the whole question seems to have metathesized and become a quagmire for youthful beginners who posit a trust that these ‘beelzebubs’ really don’t deserve.
The question of poets I can speak of from experience, as I am a person of moderate talents that once looked impressive enough (I have long since abondoned the activity in paranoid disgust) to attract ‘flies’, amateur occult shakes (I will name no names) who converge on the creative moments of the unsuspecting for obscure motives incomprehensible to mere mortals.
The gist of the question is that the great and classic sufism bestowed on the world many great poets, a tradition now long past, leaving the more recent claimants without the overt proof of their cultural universality. No wonder then that bloodthirsty ’sufi’ imitations should cast their gaze about to wish to invultuate persons of possible talent, performing experiments in ignorance that might precipitate insanity, as the victims are cast away, no rumi here.
They tried that with me, but I an occulted video camera in my room as the thieves entered…..
Poets beware, as I said before…
