Failure of leadership

On the one had we have the inability of science to understand religion, and, apparently, the inability of religionists to understand it either.
Further, what help have all these gurus been at a moment of social crisis when the question of religion is in the balance? Very little, save to throw further discredit on the question, and make it seem like one is confronted by a thieves den at the doorstep.
What leadership have all these gurus provided? Many of them know all too well that their dishonesty preempts their ability to contribute anything.
