There have been a lot of books on this subject, some quite recent: the issue is that unrestricted immigration is seeding disaster in Europe. This has been the object of many books, unfortunately on the right, e.g. Londonistan, While Europe Slept, The Decline Of Europe, etc…
The issue is the failure to institute at least some controls on immigration, and the resulting threat of Muslim majorities, resulting in loss of civil liberties, etc
It is hard to fathom the wretchedly bad social engineering that has gone on here.

I certainly agree that there is an Islamic threat, but I think this thesis is mostly wrong for two reasons. One reason is that the example of the US proves that a large multi-ethnic society won’t go off the rails. The US is far ahead of Europe in terms of race relations and has, so far, gotten over its cultural and ethnic insularity(i.e. Anybody who thinks that racism is bad in America should go over to Europe. An ethnic minority like Obama would have zero chance of getting elected the leader of the country and would have a much harder time improving his/her position in society).The other reason is that it supports this erroneous notion that “Islam” is an ethnic category. I certainly think there is a link between Muslims’ religion and their inability to successfully integrate into these societies, but that doesn’t account for non-Islamic ethnic groups who have a history of successful integration (such as South Asians and East Asians). These essentialist notions of ethnicity are old hat and the categories are too hard to pin down (i.e. In early 20th century America, these ideas were constantly directed towards non-WASP immigrants. Now these people are considered “white.” People forget that it was a big deal when an Irish Catholic like JFK was elected president). I think these books just reflect the reactionary ideas of Europeans to a process that they are unfamiliar with and that the US went through a long time ago (I’m not criticizing the attempts to critique Islam).
